Our story
How Bloom Bakery got here
Anya Sokolov returned from four years in a tiny Lyon boulangerie and opened Bloom in 2017 in a vacant Mission District laundromat, keeping the original tile floors and installing an Italian deck oven. What set Bloom Bakery apart from the start was a refusal to treat the basics as afterthoughts — doing the careful, unglamorous work that earns trust, and treating every client the way the founders wished they had been treated. 7 years and more than 180 regulars later, that conviction still runs Bloom Bakery. The team has grown, the work across San Francisco has too, but the promise is unchanged.

To bake bread the slow way — fermented long, shaped by hand, sold out before lunch, never rushed.
